You attack manually the first time.
WHEN YOU USE THE BLITZ COMMAND:
Zeru/Lenna uses Blitz Command = All party members attack the enemy randomly with the 'attack' command once, hence the name blitz.

yeah and that uses their turn so they go back to the start of the
ab gauge.
