You have to get stronger (level up) to face bosses and beat them to progress with the storyline to get skill books (get books) and sometimes the skill will level up if you use it enough times. Ex: Triple shot to Wild shot.
For FS II, in the beginning, you can get new skills if you level up. | |

| Also, use the skills you already have and they will upgrade. Most of them anyways. I suggest you see Tacticrule's guides. | |
