| for quests you'll need a script that supports it, for switches in a event you'll need 1. A event that turns the switch to ON 2. A event that has a condition for the switch to be ON or OFF
example : you talk to the npc to get a quest item (event turns switch on) if switch is on then the next npc you talk to will give you a item something like that.
for variables its just like switches except you can have many variables and they can have names. usually switches are for.. well switches lol so my example would probably apply more to a variable | |

| You can also make simple quests, like tell the player to get x amount of y item and then come back to him. Then activate a switch and then on the next page make it be activated by that self-switch and then check the player's inventory to see if it has that amount or more, if the player does meet that requirement, then give the player a reward of some sort (including exp maybe?). | |
