Chapter Final: The Being of Depression

Genre: Fantasy. Duh.
Age: 10+
“I honestly do not believe you should go in there,” the Goddess of Tempest said in a voice that brooked no argument.
“Surely you can make some exception,” Zeru said.
“I cannot. I respect you all as fearsome warriors and adept fighters, but this is simply suicide!” the Goddess exclaimed.
Antlan looked exasperated. “Is this fearsome little girl that big of a threat?”
The Goddess turned toward Antlan with a frantic look on her face. “She is. Do you feel unrequited love? Have you ever been encased within the confines of hate? Have you lusted for revenge, or have you ever been bristling with envy? This girl is the releaser of these things. Her power is so great, that Nayu’s mother, I, and all of our other sisters had to use our combined power to ensure she stayed confined in there. We even cast a seal where, should one goddess leave the human world forever; the portal to her realm will remain guarded by another Goddess. We cannot sever her from the human world, due to all of her traits being imbued within every man and woman.”
Antlan stepped back a pace at this torrent of words, so Serene went on the initiative.
“Surely we can try at least a small attack?” she said. “If not, we can always retreat.”
The Goddess shook her head. “In order to battle her, you must release her seal. If you do that, you must destroy her or the world will be engulfed in chaos.”
Royke rolled his eyes. “We already prevented that from happening once. Actually, we prevented that twice, if you count Zure in the equation.”
The Goddess looked at the faces of the heroes before her, and relented. “If I continued to say no, you’d just beat me up again and go yourself, correct?”
Antlan turned toward the others in mock surprise. “Oh no, we’re being second-guessed!”
The Goddess snapped her fingers and a portal appeared to the left of us. “Go through there. The girl’s seal will be inside there. Touch the seal and say ‘I release you, being of Depression,' to summon her.” She stopped as if to gather her thoughts, and then continued.
“Also, please, for the fate of the Maple World, defeat her!” she said pleadingly.
Royke laughed. “Alright Athena, we’ll see what we can do.”
Zeru elbowed him. “This is no laughing matter.”
“Honestly, how strong can she really be?” Royke said.
The Goddess turned toward him, face mixed with grimace and disgust. “You’ll be surprised, Archer.”
