So it's your first time coming to these forums. Perhaps you need help, or you simply can't get the Thunder star, or Drena is too hard or Saxer just keeps owning you.
If it's your first time, welcome, but I have to lay down a set of rules of can and can'ts in this forum. Oh by the way, don't think your little First Amendment will work here. You already agreed to these things. I'm just here to remind you of what you agreed to.
RulesOn December 26 of 2015 Zeru removed the rule of necroposting
and double posting. It is okay to do it. The rest of the rules still stands.
old rules (Only the ones in spoiler tag):
- Spoiler:
"Let Sleeping Dogs Lie:" Check the post of the last date of a post. For example,
Take a look at the red circle. That indicates the last date, or, in this case, the date the thread was posted, for my Xannel guide.
Today's date is 5/6/2011. That was posted on 4/6/2011. Between these two dates is a 30 day displacement. If anybody (Except me) posted in there, it would be a NECROPOST.
Etymology- Necro- Dead, Post- Post
A Necropost in this forum is if you post in a thread that has not been touched from THREE WEEKS+. The first time/second time, Metawe, Zeru, and the rest of the FS forumers will give you the evil eye and tell you not to do it. If you fail to get the hint, you will accumulate Warning Points, in which 100 is a ban.
"Save the Trees (Or, server space)"Do not Double Post. This is quite self explanatory. You may not post twice in rapid succession regardless if you have something else to add.
You see that button? That is the EDIT button. If you would like to add extra information, EDIT YOUR LAST POST!
Trolling/Generally Crude or Crass remarksMean words are not taken lightly on this forum, or any others. If you post one thing over and over, expect Zeru or Metawe to take action. If you simply post to make forumers mad, look above. If all you ever do is offend other people, yeah NO.
(Technically, 'trolling' can come in many different forms. But if you exist just to make people angry, go away.
Edited in here because Zeru likes trollin'.)
SpammingSpam. We've all heard of it. Situation-Purpose-Audience-Method, the weird meat thing, etc.
On this forum, Spam is saying something useless or pointless as a response to a topic. Or posting the same annoying thing.
Over. And over.
Common ones: "lol" "lolwut" etc.
PLEASE AT LEAST MAKE A COMPLETE SENTENCE FOR A RESPONSE!
HarassmentWow, do I even need to explain this? IF YOU ARE SUSPECTED OF HARASSING A FORUM MEMBER, YOU WILL BE WATCHED. IF YOU ARE GUILTY, YOU WILL BE LE BANNED! Or le IP banned, if Zeru feels malevolent.
Sexual RemarksIf any posts of yours relate to this, or images have inappropriate content, or forumers give Zeru/Metawe Screenshots of their Private Messaging inbox with this, you will also be LE BANNED.
Wrong SectionIf you post something about your new car, for example, in the Guides section, it will be promptly deleted/moved (Probably the latter, since Zeru and Metawe are nice guys.) If you continue, WARNING POINTS.
Also, when asking a question, IT SHOULD BE IN THE QUESTIONS SECTION!!!
Brought to my attention by 21337ninja.
Off-TopicIf you constantly post something that is in no way related to the thread, you will be warned/get warning points.
AdvertisementsAdvertisements are okay, as long as it's not a Private server and the poster states it's one.
EXCEPTIONSInsightful Posts/Useful Info. Nullifies NECROPOSTINGIf a thread has a forumer ask a question as the last post, it is not locked, and it has been over a month, provided that nobody ever tells anyone that the question has been answered, you are free to post an answer.
Example:
A thread asks "Why did my Thunder Star disappear" and...
-No other thread gives an answer
-No answer is posted in the thread
-AND the poster did not state it is been solved
THEN and ONLY THEN can you may post a reply if it's been left there for over three weeks.
(Note this is HIGHLY UNLIKELY, cause there are around four people constantly scouring the game.)
If your post is something useless, it's a Necropost.
If a bug has not been fixed by Zeru, you are by all means allowed to necropost in order to update Zeru about the possible causes of the bug.
Example: "When I try to do ____, the game gives me the error "Error Scene_Load line 1000 variable is not defined""
-Nobody posts an answer
-There is no other post detailing the problem
-And Zeru doesn't know the cause or he didn't reply "fixed" to it,
THEN you may reply something along the lines of...
"Oh, well, sorry for the necropost(<~ BE POLITE PEOPLE), but I think it's because it wasn't defined in script so-and-so
...etc."
Zeru then might say "Oh, thanks, but I already fixed it."
or
"Fixed."
BumpA bump is essentially reopening the question for further input. If nobody answers your question and it's past Necropost dates, "Bumping" a thread refers to posting "Bump," meaning you're reopening it for another three weeks.
For QUESTIONS:
You may bump your thread by either posting a new one or saying "Bump" if you REALLY NEED THAT QUESTION ANSWERED!
To a limit, though! If you just keep posting bump, that's SPAM. PM someone if you're that desperate!
(A few good candidates: 21337Ninja, Zeru, myfantasy, Before, and of course, me.)
For GUIDES:
You may update your guide and say you updated it. That's it. No more, no less.
For OFF-TOPIC/GENERAL
Just leave these alone. If you need it bumped THAT badly, post a new thread!
Limited Off-Topic/Answering Off-topicOff Topic is not the most sacrilegious thing you can do on this forum. You can post off-topic things, but to a limit! If it drags on for too much, that's a bad thing. Most of the time though, stay away from off-topic things and just make a new thread.
If someone asks an off-topic question, you are allowed to answer it, but try to adhere to the original thread topic as much as possible.
These do not apply to the Off-Topic section, of course.
Thread Size LimitsIf a thread is more than 50 pages long, you have to create another thread (same topic, just add something like "CONTINUED". You can even use the opening post of the last thread as the new opening post) since the forum glitches if a thread reaches 55 pages.
General Tips If you would like to post a guide, screenshots are preferred for those visual learners out there.
If you would like to report a bug, post the bug, its effect, and, if you can, what caused it.
If you have a multitude of questions to ask, post them all into one thread so you won't be accused of spamming.
If you are going to post a thread, stop and look if there is anything covering your thread's contents already.
Thread titles should be informative as to the contents of the thread.
i.e. "Does anybody know where to find [insert specific piece of armor here]?" rather than
"armor help plz"
So you've finished reading. Congratulations. Now you know how to keep the mods happy. Adhere by these rules at all times, and rest assured, you will not be banned.
Forum-Specific FunctionsThe MODERATOR POINT SYSTEM:
You gain Moderator Points for:
~ Answering Questions
~ Writing Guides
~ Generally being helpful
These are given by the mods and admins. DO NOT BEG. We will all throw you down a chasm if you do.
What do they do?
With 50, you get a cleared ban record.
With 100, you get to be a MODERATOR! (Only with a clear ban record!)
They are really hard to get, mind you.
The WARNING POINT SYSTEM:
You gain Warning Points for
~ Doing anything this guide told you not to. Duh.
With 100, you get BANNED.
Each consecutive ban nets you more time. Seriously, though, if you hit 100 three or four times, Zeru will just lose patience and IP ban you.
If you have finished reading all of this, and you have not signed up yet, I congratulate you, and highly suggest you sign up now.
https://finalstory.activoforo.com/registerGo ahead; we welcome every new member here.
EDIT:
Well, Ninja and I have become mods, so we'll implement a THREE DAY IMMUNITY PERIOD.
After you register, you will not be able to accumulate warning points until 3 days after your registration, although Warnings will still be carried over (for Spam/Double Post). Take the time to learn the rules, but if you register then PURPOSELY break the rules (or do something like sexual harassment, and other stuff that is just plain wrong) we'll just chuck points at you anyways.
