Standing against the dismal grey
Of solemn monoliths, arranged eight in a row
Two girls stand before them, watching them
Solemnly. One speaks: “Is this destiny?”
“Yes. All things come to an end.”
At this, one hangs their head, emotions welling;
But she endured; her friends did not want
To see her weep for them.
Immortality, be it a blessing or curse?
Many have spoken of, but never lived this life.
A serene hand rests on
The despondent girl’s shoulder. She looks up.
“He would say: ‘Don’t do this. Go enjoy yourself!’”
Wiping away the tears, she turns around
And holds her hand out to her friend and guard:
“Shall we go?” she asks.
“Off we go,” the other replies.
The two walk off, away from the stones’ stand;
Fox and Goddess, walking hand in hand.
